I am a big fan of the tank dress, yes I am.
Versatile, comfortable, pretty and feminine - long or short - I wear them all year long. With a favorite cardigan sweater and boots or cloggy shoes in fall and winter, and in summer, just as it is, with a pair of sandals and manicured toesies, there is nothing more cool and comfy.
I've had a hankering lately to create one from some thrifted clothing, and in the last few weeks I was lucky enough to come up with a few pieces that would work.
So I started with this cotton tank top, trimmed off several inches from the bottom...
... removed the yoke of this cotton skirt...
...and together they went to make a pretty new dress...
...which took me all of 10 minutes to make.
Now being the unsettled soul that I am, this has set off the desire to keep making tank dresses. But with the - ahem - large amount of vintage fabric I possess, it is probably wise to make some tank dresses from some of that.
So I am off to make my own pattern for a tank dress and sew some up with pretty vintage fabrics.
I am optimistic!
Much love,
Helena
