In and amongst the continuing saga of my bathroom renovations
and an attempt to ready the house
for The Season
in spite of all the mayhem,
I am trying not to dwell too much
on an upcoming first Anniversary.
I am alternately melancholy and joyful...
heartbroken and thankful.
It's a very mixed bag, indeed.
I find myself feeling a bit fatigued at times.
Being a sandwich can sometimes
do that to you,
no matter how willing you are to be one.
And especially around the holidays...
when an Anniversary that you don't celebrate
is just around the corner.
I find myself very drawn to nostalgia.
Things that remind me of my childhood Christmases
and even Christmases that came before me...
and of growing up and of my Mom.
And I busy myself with just the kind
of things that she would Love.
1. Flocked Deers from the 50's and 60's.
2. Radio from the 60's.
3. J - O - Y blocks - mine when I was little.
4. Vintage Singer Needles...love the red and
green packaging (from a box full of goodies
given to me by my Mom's cousin).
5. Home Preserving Made Easy Book - was my
Yesterday, I thought I might experiment with
making Christmas-y stuffed letters - like little letter pillows
made from some vintage fabric scraps.
They were fun and quite a joy to make.
I think I just might find myself
I am hoping upon hope to
have our Christmas Tree up this weekend.
The Bathroom Saga has prevented
it thus far,
but I am confident that we will be
wrapping things up renovation-wise
by this weekend,
and we will be All Systems Go
