Dear Readers, guess what I spent a good part
of yesterday doing?
I received the most lovely of presents.
The most tremendously tremendous assortment
of vintage lace and trims.
It was like Christmas morning.
Yes, the lace fairy was most definitely
smiling upon me.
It was given to me by my most dear cousin
and I am in great appreciation of her thoughtfulness.
Yesterday I sorted through the goodness
and handwashed all of the lace. It was a bit
musty dusty, like all good vintage lace should be.
I hung it out to dry.
And then ironed each precious length
and wound it on some fresh cardboard.
to the day
I also got this sweet sugar bowl,
salt and pepper shakers and
PA Dutch tin.
I am in love with all things
Poppy's grandfather and other relatives
were Pennsylvania Dutch,
and he spent much time as a boy
at his grandfather's farm in Pennsylvania.
My Mom, I'm guessing for that reason,
decorated many things in my childhood home
in a PA Dutch theme, including
hex signs she painted herself.
Reader, you probably already know
that these hex signs were actually for,
among other things,
good luck and were quite
colorful and attractive.
I think you may be seeing some hex signs
gracing the blue cottage very soon.
One can always use a little luck.
Wishing you lots of color and good luck!
